Hagedorn Hires Staff with Keen Insight into Military, Veteran Issues
WASHINGTON – Congressman Jim Hagedorn, committed to a strong military and caring for our nation’s veterans, has hired staff members with a keen insight in military and veteran issues. Minnesota’s First District is home to nearly 40,000 veterans according to the U.S. Census Department.
Kyle Pirron handles military and veteran legislative issues for Hagedorn. Pirron grew up in Lake Crystal and joined the U.S. Army before graduating from Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial High School. He was deployed to Afghanistan in 2012 as a Psychological Operations Specialist. He was honorably discharged from the Army after six years of service. Pirron has a degree in International Relations from Minnesota State University – Mankato.
Becky Rogness focuses on communications for Hagedorn. Rogness, a Fairmont native, attended high school at Martin Luther High School in Northrop and graduated from Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato. She also holds a Masters in Communication from Johns Hopkins University. She is a military spouse; whose husband is on active duty orders.
Peter Su, who manages the Washington office for Hagedorn, previously served as country director in the Office of the Secretary of Defense - Asian Pacific Security Affairs, and also at the State Department. Su graduated from Purdue University and the University of Virginia Darden School of Business Executive Program.
“Our veterans and military members have made countless sacrifices to preserve our great nation,” said Hagedorn. “As the First District’s Representative, I pledge to be attentive to the needs of our veterans and service members as they navigate federal agencies for the benefits and honors they have received. Kyle, Becky and Peter have a keen insight into our military and veteran constituencies.”
Jim Hagedorn was elected in 2018 to represent Minnesota’s First District in the U.S. House of Representatives. He grew up on his family’s grain and livestock farm near Truman. Jim’s father, former U.S. Congressman Tom Hagedorn (MN-02), grandfather, and great-grandfather were all southern Minnesota farmers. Jim currently resides in the rural farming community of Blue Earth. Hagedorn brings policy experience to Capitol Hill from time spent as a congressional aide to former U.S. Congressman Arlan Stangeland (MN-07) and a congressional relations officer for two non-partisan U.S. Department of the Treasury agencies. Hagedorn serves on the House Committees on Agriculture and Small Business to promote farming, Main Street enterprises and southern Minnesota’s rural way of life.
