MANKATO, Minn. – Today, Congressman Jim Hagedorn (MN-01) was virtually presented the 2020 Champion for Healthy Seniors Award by the Partnership to Fight Chronic Disease (PFCD). In the letter informing Rep. Hagedorn that he received the award, PFCD thanked the congressman for his commitment to Medicare coverage and for protecting those with chronic conditions in Minnesota.

Congressman Hagedorn was chosen as a recipient of this award based on his outstanding leadership in lowering prescription drug costs and protecting in-home treatment during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"I am honored and humbled to receive the Champion for Healthy Seniors Award. Protecting our medical care providers, particularly our rural hospitals, and promoting high quality healthcare for southern Minnesota’s senior citizens is among my top priorities as a member of Congress. I will continue fighting to facilitate the development of medical cures, lower prescription drug costs with price transparency and a ‘one price, one pill’ proposal, protect nursing home residents from COVID-19, and ensure that our seniors have access to timely, quality medical care,” said Hagedorn.

"Rep. Hagedorn’s work towards protecting seniors and those with chronic conditions by ensuring access to affordable medications and in-home treatments is especially notable and valued in 2020 as our country has faced the COVID-19 pandemic,” stated PFCD Chairman Ken Thorpe.

Jim Hagedorn was elected in 2018 to represent Minnesota’s First District in the U.S. House of Representatives. He grew up on his family’s grain and livestock farm near Truman. Jim’s father, former U.S. Congressman Tom Hagedorn (MN-02), grandfather, and great-grandfather were all southern Minnesota farmers. Jim currently resides in the rural farming community of Blue Earth. Hagedorn brings policy experience to Capitol Hill from time spent as a congressional aide to former U.S. Congressman Arlan Stangeland (MN-07) and a congressional relations officer for two non-partisan U.S. Department of the Treasury agencies. Hagedorn serves on the House Committees on Agriculture and Small Business to promote farming, Main Street enterprises and southern Minnesota’s way of life.
