Hagedorn Statement on Biden’s Planned Executive Orders
WASHINGTON – Congressman Jim Hagedorn (MN-01) today issued the following statement regarding President Joe Biden’s immediate efforts to push radical liberal policies via executive order upon taking office:
“During the campaign, Joe Biden presented himself to the American people as a moderate who would reject socialism, prioritize unity and find common ground with both parties in Congress. Just hours into his term, the president is making it clear that his words were all just ‘election talk'.
“The executive orders to be issued by the Biden administration - including rejoining the Paris Accord, canceling the Keystone XL pipeline project, an unconstitutional federal mask mandate, rescinding President Trump's order to restrict travel from terrorist nations that hate America and amnesty for illegal aliens – are extreme and destructive leftwing policies.
“Democrats have only a thin five-seat margin in the U.S. House and a 50-50 split in the U.S. Senate. There is no mandate from the American people for President Biden, Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Schumer to push radical change.
“It’s a shame Mr. Biden immediately caved to leftwing extremism, fulfilled many fears of conservatives and didn’t shoot straight with the American people. The new president has us on a path back to the Obama years of big government, economic stagnation, inept foreign policy and complete disregard for the Constitution. Instead of the America First policies we enjoyed with President Trump, it looks like we will endure years of notions that will put America Last.
“Over the past four years, the Trump administration and congressional Republicans made great achievements by rebuilding our military and implementing a foreign policy that projected American values; securing America’s borders; creating the strongest economy in the history of our country with high-wage jobs - through tax reform, less regulation, U.S. energy independence and trade deals like USMCA; and, defending our U.S. Constitutional rights, especially the right to life, the right to keep and bear arms, and the right to religious freedom.
“I promised the voters that I would serve in Congress as a conservative reinforcement and stand for the values that made America the greatest nation on Earth – Peace Through Strength, free enterprise capitalism, freedom, liberty and individual opportunity.
“Constituents can count on me to work alongside my colleagues to push back against leftwing overreach and reflect the views and values of First District residents. I will always fight for southern Minnesota’s small businesses, farmers, workers, families and our way of life."
Jim Hagedorn was reelected in 2020 to serve Minnesota’s First District in the U.S. House of Representatives for a second term. He grew up on his family’s grain and livestock farm near Truman. Jim’s father, former Congressman Tom Hagedorn (MN-02), grandfather, and great-grandfather were all southern Minnesota farmers, and Jim resides in the rural community of Blue Earth. During his time in Congress, Hagedorn has consistently fought for the conservative principles that have made America the greatest nation in the history of the world and championed legislation to promote the First District’s primary industries and job creators – farming, small business and medical care. Hagedorn is a member of the House Committees on Agriculture and Small Business.
